Case Study
Centre for Health Science, Raigmore
Research and business incubation facility
Project Duration: 12 months (construction)
Completion date: January 2009
Overall Project Cost: £23 million
Project Description:
Health education, research and business incubation facility based beside the Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. Tenants include Universities of Stirling and Aberdeen, UHI Millennium Institute as well as NHS and private sector companies.
The main challenge for this project was the sensitivity of the site within the hospital estate, limitations due to emergency helicopter flight path requirements, constructing a single building in 3 main phases and the resolution of multi-tenancy issues. The building has been designed to meet high standards in sustainability and is aesthetically a powerful statement of the Highlands commitment to modernity, sciences and innovation. The overall project quality is strengthened by a strong landscape design and incorporation of artwork.
