Utilities Audit

Synergie set up a utility audit

Project Duration: On going
Completion date: On going
Overall Project Cost: Funded from savings

Project Description
The client’s objective was to introduce an additional resource of specific expertise to work with their existing in-house FM team. The purpose of this was to optimise the management and operation of utilities provision to the estate. The resultant outcome produced substantial and verifiable savings in the year 06/07 of £93k from the estate utilities service providers. Cost optimising work is continuing, with further savings expected. These savings were achieved by using account audit scrutiny methods engaging a combination of tariff analysis work, billing error identification and efficiency measures.

Outcome
First year savings amounted to £92,827.45, with ongoing savings per annum of £55,337.  Synergie have now been retained by the client to carry out infrastructure energy performance assessments, reviewing building fabric performance and building operational modelling in order to achieve further energy savings. This assessment data will be used to achieve Energy Performance Certification for all buildings over 1000sqm, as required by The European Performance of Buildings Directive.
