New Fair Isle Bird Observatory on target

Since the announcement in April 2009 by the Fair Isle Bird Observatory Trust (FIBOT) that Synergie Scotland Ltd and AHW Building Ltd were to build a new £4 million Fair Isle Bird Observatory, it has been full steam ahead for the project. Although demolition of the old building only commenced in early July, the structure is now in place, due to the innovative method of modular fabrication used in the construction.

The Pulteneytown People’s Project is one of five projects in Glasgow, Fife, the Highlands and West Lothian today sharing in £2,369,891 from BIG’s Growing Community Assets programme.

Pods on their way to the Fair Isle

The weather has caused the big barge which came from Sweden to transport the pods from Orkney to the Fair Isle to postpone its trip, with the pods now being moved to a smaller vessel, which can travel in slightly rougher conditions.
