Synergie Forge Ahead with Energy Performance Certification

The scheme, approved by the Scottish Buildings Standards Agency, qualifies individuals and organisations to certify non-domestic building designs as having met the requirements of the Building Regulations (Section 6 Energy) and the Mandatory Functional Standards, enabling them to issue Energy Performance Certificates for the properties.

Uisdean Fraser, Synergie Director commented: “Synergie are proud to be able to say that they are one of the first businesses in Scotland, to be qualified as Section 6 self- assessors for non-domestic properties. We are also proud that one of our staff, Heather Moorhead, scored the highest marks in the most recent assessment test which I suppose could make her the leading assessor in Scotland”

“The issue of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) is a key step in the process of making buildings more energy efficient, leading to lower operating costs and reduced CO2 emissions. EPC’s form an integral part of our work on energy metering and monitoring and the combination of the services can allow a more holistic approach to energy efficiency being possible.”

“In Scotland, Building Control are looking for Section 6 submissions to be approved by designers who are registered self assessors, rather than in England where Building control will carry out this work themselves.  This creates further opportunities for us in Scotland and subsequently the rest of the UK.”
