Synergie in Trade Mission to UN
Environ Director travels to Vienna
The mission to the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) was organised by the Scottish Enterprise to allow Scottish businesses to promote their services to the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors, throughout the developing world.
UNIDO is a specialised agency of the UN which was established in 1966. It was set up sto help developing countries and economies in transition in their fight against marginalisation. UNIDO mobilises knowledge, skills, information and technology to promote productive employment, a competitive economy and a sound environment. Furthermore the organisation enhances cooperation at global, regional, national and sectoral levels.
Uisdean Fraser, Synergie Director, representing the company in Vienna said; “
UNIDO were extremely interested in Synergie Scotland’s experience in developing off grid renewable energy systems in remote locations, through projects such as Isle of Eigg Electricification and EMEC wave and tidal test site in Orkney. They felt that Synergie had the unique skills necessary which could be easily transferred to similar projects in other parts of the world, often in other remote and fragile communities.”
If successful any award of projects through UNIDO would enable Synergie to expand its operations to deliver projects on a worldwide basis.
